IPS - Day 38

Today was spent working through practice problems. I also briefly discussed the structure of the mid-term exam. I'll cover this in more detail on my next post.

The problems presented dealt with probability and simulation. The problems were well thought out and one presented a nuance that needed to be considered in order to obtain a correct solution. This problem took students a while to complete as it also involved simulating a random drawing problem without replacement.

The second problem dealt with a more traditional probability problem and required the construction of a table or Venn diagram to represent the situation. The problem then asked for conjunctive, disjunctive, and complementary probabilities. Most students seemed very comfortable with the second problem.

These two problems and questions about the mid-term structure took the entire class.

The next class is the mid-term.
