IPS - Day 52

Today the focus was on learning to use software to aid in the analysis of data. The focus was on analyzing the chocolate experiment data. The class worked in the computer lab today. I had everyone launch the CPMP software that I saw at the NCTM Annual Conference in Denver, load chocolate data into the spreadsheet, and then look at how to create sampling redistributions to see what random samples might look like if the chocolates melted at the same rate.

Most students seemed to grasp how to use the software. I had everyone save their files and we'll continue to work with the software and analyze results next class. The intent is for the groups to analyze their data while I assist individuals with specifics on how to create statistics, graphs, or general questions about the analysis.
